Workshop Description:
"Bringing Energy and Emotion to Your Watercolors Using Yupo Paper"
Many artists struggle to bring an emotional element to their paintings. With a better understanding of how to approach the non-traditional surface of synthetic paper, Alonzo will help artists abandon some control to achieve exciting and dynamic results. In this workshop students will learn how to develop an initial sketch focused heavily on design and composition, which will lay the groundwork for the final, completed painting.
If you've ever wanted to add excitement to your watercolors, or if you want to learn to master this elusive surface, this workshop is for you!
About Alonzo Clarke:
Alonzo Clarke was born into a creative family in Upstate NY, which sparked his life-long passion for art. He graduated with a degree in Studio Art from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY and, in the years since, he has continued to push himself artistically. Having found success in watercolors on traditional paper, Alonzo is now exploring working on non-traditional surfaces such as synthetic paper, incorporating a more abstract approach while focusing on design.
Alonzo has won numerous awards including, most recently, The Burstein Family Award at the 2023 Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors. He is a Signature Member of the New England Watercolor Society, the North East Watercolor Society, the Rhode Island Watercolor Society, a juried member of the North Shore Arts Association, and a bona fide member of the Whiskey Painters of America.
This workshop is limited to SIXTEEN participants.
