Supporting Watercolor Excellence Since 1885

For 140 years, the New England Watercolor Society (NEWS) has been dedicated to promoting the art and appreciation of watercolor painting. Established in 1885, NEWS has nurtured artists from across New England, including renowned names such as Childe Hassam and John Singer Sargent. Today, we continue this tradition by providing exhibition opportunities, workshops, educational programs, and community events that inspire both artists and audiences alike.

We invite you to become a supporter of watercolor arts by making a tax-deductible donation to NEWS. Your generosity helps sustain our mission, supports emerging and established artists, and ensures that our exhibitions continue to showcase the finest watercolor talent in the region.

Your donation could be earmarked to sponsor an award honoring the memory of a loved-one, sponsor an award dedicated to an artistic genre, enable our events and outreach programs, or bolster our general fund in order to fund gallery space and operating costs to ensure that our exhibitions continue to inspire and engage. Additionally, you could decide to sponsor one of our premier shows.

We suggest several levels of donations:

  • Benefactor of the Arts | $5,000 +
  • Patron of the Arts | $1,000 +
  • Donor to the Arts | $500 +
  • Contributor to the Arts | $100 +
  • Friend of the Arts | Up to $100

As a Benefactor of the Arts, Patron of the Arts, Donor to the Arts or Contributor to the Arts, your name will be displayed on the NEWS Donor Page, and in our NEWS Letter and Eblasts to let the community know of your support.


Support a Signature Exhibition
In addition to general donations, you may choose to directly support one of our three major exhibitions:

  • The Signature Members Show
    Held in Boston at the Guild of Boston Artists on Newbury Street, this prestigious exhibition highlights the work of our distinguished Signature Members.

  • The New England Regional Open juried Show
    Held in odd-numbered years, this show rotates from state to state in New England, depending on the year. This juried exhibition showcases outstanding watercolor artists from across New England.

  • The New England Watercolor Society North American Open juried Show
    Our most competitive exhibition, held in Plymouth at the Plymouth Center for the Arts in even numbered years, features top watercolorists from anywhere in North America.
